This volume brings together poetry from 1921 to 1933 and corresponds to the content of two volumes from that critical edition, which helps to make more evident the diverse rhythm of orthonymous poetry production during the 1920s, when Pessoa was engaged in the development of heteronyms and other projects, and the notable increase in that production in subsequent years, both in quantity and complexity.
A longitudinal reading of this volume provides a foretaste of a body of work that developed progressively, and continued to do so in subsequent years, until the publication of Mensagem and the poet's end.
