Cardiac Rehabilitation - Evidence and Foundations for Practice comes to us in a revised edition. This book is organized and mostly written by six people geographically distant, but who destiny wanted to bring together. What unites them? A passion for rehabilitation and, more specifically, for cardiac rehabilitation. In addition to the six main authors, this book benefited from the invaluable collaboration of over thirty authors distributed throughout different chapters.

The work presents an updated and structured synthesis of knowledge in cardiac rehabilitation. The work is the result of the collaborative effort of six main authors, from different geographical backgrounds and united by a common commitment to science, clinical practice and the development of rehabilitation. This team is joined by over thirty collaborators who contributed to the different chapters, giving the book a multidisciplinary and comprehensive perspective.

In Portugal, there continues to be a lack of integrated literature that brings together recent scientific evidence and the fundamental principles that guide the practice of cardiac rehabilitation. This work seeks to address this need by compiling updated knowledge that can serve as a basis for a safe, effective intervention aligned with the best international recommendations. We intend this work to be a starting point and not an endpoint, stimulating the continuous search for new evidence and the permanent updating of professional practice.

This book is intended for health professionals. Reading its contents does not replace specific training or, by itself, qualify for the implementation of cardiac rehabilitation programs.
