An inspiring book by an emperor of the past to help us face the challenges of the present.
Marcus Aurelius considered himself a citizen of the world — or rather, of the Universe. For him, equality and fraternity among men required constant attention to social acts, never to criticize gods or human beings, and to accept events as the simple expression of the law of the Universe.
Thus, this work is the book of a man of action, who seeks serenity, indispensable for effectiveness, but also of a man for whom human actions only possess deep and lasting value if they fit into the perspective of the Whole of the Universe and the community of all.
Much more than a compilation of philosophical thoughts, Meditations is a perfectly current manual of conduct, which calls for reflection on how we can improve our way of life and our relationship with others.
