Knowing how much I enjoy teaching and, modesty aside, considering everything I have done for the Faculty, the Academic Council created a discipline called the Jorge Miranda Chair. Naturally, very grateful, I agreed to teach the respective classes and chose the issue of fundamental rights as the general theme, an issue to which I have always dedicated the greatest attention.
The discipline started in the academic year 2024/2025 with almost 100 students, all lawyers, masters and master's students, doctors and doctoral students, Portuguese, many Brazilians, and some Africans.
In each class, taught once a week, there would be a first part for exposition and a second part for clarification and discussion.
I was very pleased with the students' attendance and cooperation and I thank Dr. Alexandrina Pinto de Almeida for the valuable collaboration she gave me, and now also in relations with the Faculty management and the Academic Association.
Students did not receive grades but were encouraged to participate in classes and do coursework.
