Two rival societies. A chilling secret. A woman who can decipher the truth.
For over a century, two rival organizations have stopped at nothing to acquire a valuable artifact that, at first glance, seems worthless. This frayed piece of embroidery was torn from a medieval manuscript
disputed by the Order of St. Catherine – which believes women should remain in the shadows, controlling events from behind the scenes – and the Sisterhood of the Larks – which is willing to get its hands dirty to achieve as many positions of power for women as possible.
When Anya Brown draws attention for her translation of the cryptic Folio 9, she is chosen by Diana Cornish, a senior member of the Sisterhood of the Larks, to join the exclusive Institute for Manuscript Studies in St.
Andrews. Meanwhile, at Scotland Yard, Detective Clio Spicer begins an investigation related to the manuscript both organizations are seeking. As they all become entangled in this ancient web, events spiral
out of control, endangering their lives and the very purpose of their existence.
